Lotus Cabernet Sauvignon Paso Robles 2008

This is a small production (1600 cases), hand crafted wine from a family-owned winery in Paso Robles. This area of rolling hills, about 20 minutes from the ocean in the Central Coast of California, is an ideal spot for varietals that like to struggle. Cabernet vines planted on gentle slopes get perfect drainage, lots of sunshine during the day, and the cool breezes from the Pacific at night sweep in to put them to bed. This wine displays a bright ruby color and blackberry and cassis on the nose. Next comes a jammy, supple mouth with raspberry, pomegranate, and a hint of tart cherry on the finish. Price: CAN$227.40

Claraval do Calatayud

The 2006 Claraval, 100% old-vine Garnacha, was sourced from higher elevation vineyards. Opaque purple-colored, the wine coats the glass. It gives up an alluring aromatic array of wood smoke, mineral, scorched earth, black cherry, black raspberry, and violets. This leads to a medium to full-bodied, layered wine with loads of sweet, spicy dark fruit flavors, ripe tannin, good balance, and a long, pure finish. Give it 2-3 years to blossom and drink it through 2020. To this point, the D.O. of Calatayud has been best known for exceptional value. However, this is slowly changing as people appreciate just how good the wines made from its old-vine Grenache vineyards can be.

Vintage Trade holds a Licence to Represent Manufacturer issued by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (the "AGCO") for its representation of each of the vintners depicted on the Website. We offer for sale, and deliver wine to you purchased through the Consignment Program operated by the Private Ordering provisions of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario "LCBO"), and we or our affiliates are authorized by the LCBO as a consignment agent.

LCBO Guidelines define our role and the LCBO´s expectations. As a Manufacturer´s Representative or agent, we do not "sell" wine. Rather, the LCBO regards you to be its customer. We are the intermediary which processes the sale of wine from the LCBO to you. "Processes" means that we represent our manufacturers and assist in the transaction of your purchase from the LCBO.

The wine prices shown on the Website are inclusive of the LCBO sale price, licensee discounts and markups and fees charged by Vintage Trade. A paid invoice will be mailed to you upon completion of the order. According to LCBO rules, the ‘LCBO cost’ must be disclosed to the customer. The ‘LCBO cost’ represents the taxes and mark-ups by the LCBO based on the price from the winery. The Vintage Trade mark-up will vary depending upon the price negotiated with the winery. The markup must pay for the operation of the company and all services that Vintage Trade provides, as there is no additional compensation from the winery for Consignment wines. All wine is held by the LCBO in its consignment warehouse until your order is placed. Wine is not available directly from Vintage Trade nor does Vintage Trade have any alcohol on its premises.

The Sale of Alcoholic Beverages

The sale of beverage alcohol is heavily regulated. You agree not to intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable law or regulation including making an offer to purchase or make a delivery arrangement for wine by or on behalf of a person not of legal drinking age. Upon delivery, proof of age may be required in the discretion of the delivery agent. The delivery agent will not complete the delivery of liquor to any person who appears intoxicated.
